The Super Data Science Podcast team is going old school this week, wishing everyone a Happy Holidays and thank you for listening with actual greetings from all of us – personally sending out warm, merry Happy Holidays wishes to everyone.
Reflecting on the past year reveals a remarkable journey in AI advancements. Just a year ago, having our holiday message whipped up by GPT-3.5 was like witnessing a Christmas miracle! However, this awe quickly shifted with the introduction of GPT-4, eclipsing its predecessor and marking a significant leap in AI capabilities. Today’s landscape brims with advanced Large Language Models, making last year’s technology seem almost prehistoric. In a surprising turn, the once-trendy use of generative AI has fallen out of fashion.
Embracing this shift, the Super Data Science Podcast team is going back to basics. In today’s episode, we’re all here to extend a warm, personal Happy Holidays greeting and express our gratitude to our listeners for their year-round support.

This is Five-Minute Friday with a Holiday Greeting from all of us at the Super Data Science Podcast.
(00:19):
Welcome back to The Super Data Science Podcast. I’m your host, Jon Krohn. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in the past year. For last year’s holiday greeting, I thought it would be fun to use GPT-3.5 to generate the holiday message from a prompt and, at the time, it seemed mind-blowing that I could do this at all, that that could be done at all. A few months later, GPT-3.5’s capabilities were vastly outshone by the release of GPT-4 and today countless proprietary and open-source Large Language Models have made the generative A.I. of twelve months ago look — in A.I. terms — seem like it’s from the stone age.

A year later, it has also become the case that obviously using generative A.I. has become dreadfully out of vogue. So, for today’s episode we’re doing the opposite! Instead, all eight of us humans from the Super Data Science podcast are here today to wish you happy holidays and to thank you for listening all year ‘round.
